The sled runners (the contract surfaces between the side boards of the sled and the ice) are covered with plastic, instead of metal, and a mast and sail are mounted on the sled to increase its speed by utilizing wind power. Uemura created a unique dogsled design by refining the standard dogsled used in Greenland.
