MASAKO IZUMI Masako Izumi was a Japanese idol actress who represented the 1960s and was also active as a singer. As an adventurer, she attempted an Arctic expedition in 1985. On her second attempt, she succeeded in reaching the North Pole in 1989. This was the first such achievement by a Japanese woman. For her Arctic expedition, she spent over a month training with Nikon to operate the camera. The camera was a very cold weather resistant Nikon F3. She took two Nikon F3 UEMURA SPECIAL with her on her Arctic expedition.
