The MIKRON Family

The MIKRON Family

The ultra-compact MIKRON binoculars were developed immediately after the foundation of Nikon. They are one family of binoculars that represent Nikon, and have been produced continuously up to the present, while undergoing constant remodeling and performance improvements. They are characterized by their minimalist design that incorporates an optical system comprising lenses and a Porro prism that contain a minimum of metallic parts. Monocular MONO MIKRON models have also been produced.

MIKRON DOME

I met this machine for the first time at the exhibition at the Nikon Museum. This figure I have never seen even one photo. Amazing. A dome-shaped prism cover that is streamlined rather than semi-circular. I will put the photo images here, so I hope that the details will be clarified.

The Beauty of DOME MIKRON

From this angle, you can see that the curved surface is very beautiful. A landscape like the plumbing of a large oil plant. Small but overwhelming volume.

The Era of DOME MIKRON

From the material around the eyepiece, the atmosphere on the objective lens side, and the sharpness of the finely engraved lines, it seems that it was made from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. The charm point is the deep drawing of the prism cover.

Given the historical background, this model may be for intelligence purposes. It looks like a toy, but its optical performance is first class. I will definitely buy it if Nikon launches this DOME MIKRON as a new product.
