This is the big highlight of this special exhibition. The Imperial Japanese Army 25 cm Binocular Telescope. She welcomed me like a god in the center of the special exhibition space.

This 25 cm diameter model had the largest diameter of any portable practical telescope in the world. Its magnification range could be extended up to 250X by changing eyepiece lenses. With good visibility, the user could observe collective activity at up to 70 km away or individual activity at up to 20 km away. Production of large diameter binoculars presented significant problems such as optical glass production and lens grinding and assembly, resulting in high cost and a long lead time, so this is the only 25 cm binocular telescope produced by Nikon. The initial eyepiece lenses were lost - the current replacements were produced after World War II. This telescope is publically exhibited here for the first time in 50 years - it was previously exhibited at the Nikon Fair, Nikon's 50th anniversary exhibition in 1967 (it now belongs to the National Museum of Nature and Science).

It will be hard to see such historical binoculars in the future. I decided to show you as many images as possible to leave for posterity as a photographic source. After all, new discoveries can be expected by seeing many people including experts.
