According to Nikon's English version MULTIPHOT brochure, the official name of the adapter ring in the following image is listed as BAYONET MOUNT ADAPTER.

Of course, the official name, BAYONET MOUNT ADAPTER MP J93040, is printed on the white Nikon box.

SCREW MOUNT ADAPTER

According to Nikon's English version MULTIPHOT brochure, the official name of the adapter ring in the following image is listed as SCREW MOUNT ADAPTER.

Of course, the official name, SCREW MOUNT ADAPTER MP J93050, is printed on the white Nikon box.

BR-15 and BR-16 are NOT Nikon Official Model Numbers

Since around 2004, I've seen books and websites described as BR-15 and BR-16.
As you know, BR is the model number of Nikon's camera division. The MULTIPHOT system is a product of Nikon's microscope division. It is impossible for Nikon's microscope division to use the model number of the camera division.

That was in April 2021. I asked Mr. Hans Braakhuis from the Netherlands about my question about BR-15 and BR-16. Hans-san is a famous Nikon historian. Hans-san gave me a detailed answer right away.

Attention

The BR-15 should be written as "BAYONET MOUNT ADAPTER" as correctly defined by Nikon.
The BR-16 should be written as "SCREW MOUNT ADAPTER" as correctly defined by Nikon.

Adapter Types

The Nikon MULTIPHOT system was released in 1968. Production was discontinued in 1995, but sales continued until around the end of 1997. Since it was manufactured and sold for a long time, I believe there have been several improvements and upgrades.

There are also several types of BAYONET MOUNT ADAPTER and SCREW MOUNT ADAPTER.
