![]() Brilliant Light from Old Window Special Reception Before the meeting, the members and guests of the Nikon Kenkyukai toured the inside of the residence. The interior of the residence was maintained in very good condition.
![]() Akihiko Suzuki introduced Dr. Toshikatsu Otani to the participant The inspection tour was concluded, after which we took our seats in the main dining room. Michio Akiyama provided a comprehensive overview of the reception party, including an introduction to the guest to the participants. Furthermore, Akihiko Suzuki introduced Dr. Toshikatsu Otani to the participants. Dr. Otani is the chief director of the Otani Art Museum Foundation. Furthermore, he is an emeritus professor at Nihon University. He is a management representative of Kyu-Furukawa Residence. Dr. Otani has been a long-standing supporter of Nikon.

![]() The Lecture About the Japanese Culture and the Pride of Japanese Dr. Otani began his lecture. This western-style residence and garden were designed by British architect Josiah Conder (1852-1920), who played an active part in the Meiji and Taisho eras. Conder made significant contributions to the development of architecture in Japan, working on projects such as the Iwasaki residence, the Rokumeikan, and Nikolai Cathedral. Dr. Otani provided a detailed account of the significant restoration project undertaken at the Furukawa residence. The restoration of the Furukawa residence took seven years.
