Naotaka Hirota is a famous railroad photographer representing Japan. Born in Tokyo in 1935, he fell in love with trains as a young man. He took his first train photograph when he was in junior high school (9th grade). During his high school years, he published photographs and travelogues in various magazines for railroad enthusiasts. And he developed contacts with other railroad enthusiasts.

He began his career as a freelance photographer in 1960. His first solo exhibition, Steam Locomotives, in 1968, brought him recognition for his distinctive style, and popularized the world of railroad photography.

This exhibition will display over 60 railroad photographs taken by Hirota with Nikon F camera and Nikkor lenses between 1961 and 1970. The Nikon camera and Nikkor lenses that Hirota used for his photography will also be on display.
