The July Nikon Kenkyukai meeting was held right near the Kabukiza Theater in Ginza, Tokyo. Kabukiza, which has a long history, will be demolished for reconstruction next year. Sayonara performances are currently being held.

Apollo 40th Anniversary Special

July 20th is the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11. The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum opened the 40th anniversary site named 40th Anniversary of Apollo 11.

The Nikon Kenkyukai Tokyo held a special lecture meeting in commemoration of the 40th Apollo 11 anniversary. The lecturer is Ryu Koakimoto who covers the launch of Apollo 11 in 1969 in the United States and who explained by live telecast.

Ryu Koakimoto covered news by using Nikon SP and Nikon S3. He also used 135mm telephoto lens. In 1969, the most photojournalists used Nikon F and motor drive with very long telephoto lens. However, his Nikon SP and Nikon S3 did great work.

The micro four thirds digital camera of a new model was put on the market from Olympus. Some old enlarger lenses suit the micro four thirds digital camera Olympus E-P1. Hatsu introduced us his special old lens collection and his Olympus E-P1.

Dr. Zyun Koana Special Exhibition

Michio Akiyama introduced us the Dr. Zyun Koana Special Exhibition. The title of the exhibition is "Dr. Zyun Koana and his wonderful lens world". The place where the exhibition is held is the Komaba Museum, University of Tokyo. The exhibition is held from July 18, 2009 to September 23, 2009.

Doctor Zyun Koana was a science professor of University of Tokyo. He is the first doctor of the "Asahi Camera", Japanese shutterbug magazine. Dr. Koana demanded the lens which has over 1,000 lines/mm resolution as for the super-micro photographs to Nippon Kougaku. He did the reduction copy of all the English novel 330 pages into a small postage stamp size using Ultra Micro Nikkor 29.5mm F1.2 lens. You will be able to see Dr. Koana's great study results and his Ultra Micro Nikkor collections in the special exhibition.
